During this Vision Dinner, Sander Kerstens, Director of Data Analytics at Vanderlande, will reflect on how Vanderlande is approached its digital transformation from a data point of view. How did they increase organisational awareness and created data ownership? Why did they choose a data-mesh approach? And what are some challenges they have experienced during this process? After his presentation, there will be an open discussion with Sander and the other participants. You are most welcome to join!
Sander Kerstens, Vanderlande
Director Central Analytics Organization
Sander Kerstens was trained as both a mathematician and a teacher and worked as an Advanced Analytics consultant at KMPG. He also held the position of Expert Advanced Analytics at Van Lanschot Kempen. Sander had the chance at Vanderlande to create a central data analytics organisation from scratch, both from the viewpoint of an operating model, a data platform, and a way of working. He was the new Central Analytics Organization’s Delivery and Development manager at first, but last summer took over the steering wheel of this international division, which has developers working out of offices in Atlanta, Pune, and Veghel.
Digital transformation has become a hot topic for every business. However, while it might be inevitable, it also comes with a variety of issues ranging from finding the appropriate tooling to convincing your workforce to join the transformation. One thing is clear: it is crucial to put data centrally and acknowledge it as a key enabler for your digital transformation especially when it comes to transferring and storing data. And while this might be one of the most important part of every digital transformation, it is also the most challenging. So what role do directors of data play in in that process?
