Information
Topic

Whether it is carbon accounting, demand planning for energy or estimating emissions from partners, there is no denying that sustainability goals cross-industry demand bigger, better and more transparent data infrastructure. At Shell, that means using digital technologies, for example AI, or blockchain, to detect, track and quantify greenhouse gas emissions in operations, including methane emissions. It also means complying with international standards and helping customers and partners gain insight in the carbon that is emitted along the supply chain. All this while keeping energy affordable, especially for those that need it the most.

Nils Kappeyne, VP Data & Architecture at Shell, is leading the charge to use digital initiatives to help give Shell and its customers the information they need to make the right decisions when it comes to sustainability. This has become all the more needed with new regulatory pressure from the EU and others to make supply chains more transparent when it comes to emissions and other environmental factors.
