Bart Meussen

Executive Director Finance NL

Bart Meussen (RC) is the Executive Director Finance Netherlands of Royal BAM Group. As Group Controller, he has been working for the company for several years, part of that period as interim CFO. Meussen started his career at KPN after completing his studies in Tilburg and Amsterdam. After a period of 8 years, he switched to Philips; where he held positions in various businesses (in the Netherlands and Belgium). In the period 2016-2019, he worked as EVP Finance again at KPN, responsible for part of the Finance organization as well as the (digital) Finance Transformation of the company. During this period, Meussen was a sought-after speaker on the theme of the role and development of the Finance function. In addition to his role at BAM, Meussen is a member of the Supervisory Board of Fontys University of Applied Sciences and regularly gives guest lectures at various study programmes.

The building sector in the Netherlands is going through turbulent times. The energy transition, housing shortages, the focus on sustainable renovation; just a few topics from a longer list BAM and other companies in the sector are involved in. As a result, the role of the CFO, the role of the Finance function in general is changing. There is a clear need to focus on more than the (financial) bottom line, delivering value to the business and organization.
