Karel is at KLM for over 30 years. He knows the airline’s ins and outs like no other. At first, Karel was responsible for various operational divisions within KLM. A few years back, he switched to the strategic development of KLM. He is responsible for the sustainability strategy for over 2 years now.

Director Climate Policy

From her background in change management, Hedwig is responsible for the Climate Policy of KLM and is part of the Sustainability Office. In this role, she is responsible for setting up and execution of the policy that allow KLM to contribute to the climate agreements. To guide the partnership collaborations, her national and international experience is of great importance.

Aviation is excluded of Paris's climate agreement. However, KLM wants to contribute to the climate goals as being one of the most sustainable airlines in the word. This process will be discussed by Karel and Hedwig during this session.
