Topic

On 9 September we will host an an engaging dinner on the Enhanced Vigilance Programme at Shell. During this event we will explore how to manage insider threats without fostering a culture of distrust. Hans IJkel, General Manager Cyber Defence & Deputy CISO at Shell will share his insights into the programme’s structure, the steps taken so far, the challenges and dilemmas encountered, and the results achieved to date. Although the Enhanced Vigilance Programme is still ongoing, this session will provide valuable learnings and best practices to enhance security within organisations.

A key topic of discussion will be the balance between trust and control, considering how far organisations should go in monitoring and detection without undermining confidence in their employees. Additionally, Hans will explore how other organisations approach this issue and the reasoning behind their strategies. Another important question that will be addressed is how to distinguish between an honest mistake and intentional misconduct. For example, when an employee forwards a work email to their personal account, is it merely an oversight or a deliberate violation?

We look forward to an open and insightful discussion on this important topic. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to network, learn and exchange experiences with Hans and fellow industry professionals. You are welcome to join!
