Topic

Cherissa Appelman's role as Director Crisis Management at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines requires a delicate balance between standardised procedures and flexible adjustments. The complexity of the aviation industry and the diversity of possible crises make this a challenging but essential task. By combining a solid foundation of standardised protocols with the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to specific situations, KLM can better prepare for and respond to crises, ensuring the safety and continuity of operations. Cherissa is currently working on aligning the procedures on emergency response and crisis management. Key aspects in these processes are creating clarity for all stakeholders and deploying the right person in the right place.
