During this session, Jelle Hannema, CEO of Vitens, will discuss the enormous role that drinking water has on our quality of life and a thriving economy. With increasing pressure on the water supply, it is of great importance that companies take a critical look at their consumption. Mr Hannema will share how Vitens wants to permanently change and improve the water system

Jelle Hannema studied law until 1985, specializing in Legal Administrative science, at Amsterdam University. After graduating, he joined the internationally active engineering and consulting firm DHV, now Royal HaskoningDHV. Within DHV, he fulfilled various positions, including strategic consultant and senior adviser environment, management and zoning and development. Subsequently, Mr. Hannema worked in various Board positions within DHV for ten years. During his period with DHV, he was involved in the reconstruction of the Roombeek area in Enschede that was devastated by a fireworks factory disaster. On 1 January 2014, he started in the position of Asset Management Manager with Vitens.

Since 1 September 2017, Jelle Hannema is the Chairman of the Executive Board of Vitens. His portfolio includes Extraction & Treatment, Distribution, Laboratory, Governance & Legal Support, Business Development, Communication, Human Resources and Vitens Evides International


Vitens is the largest drinking water company in The Netherlands. We deliver top quality drinking water to 5.6 million people and companies in the provinces Flevoland, Fryslân, Gelderland, Utrecht and Overijssel and some municipalities in Drenthe and Noord-Holland. Annually we deliver 350 million m³ water with 1,400 employees, 100 water treatment works and 49,000 kilometres of water mains


Drinking water provider Vitens has an ambitious goal: assuring every drop of drinking water is a sustainable one by 2030. According to its CEO Jelle Hannema, the growing pressure on drinking water availability due to increased demand as, among other, we need to build more homes and climate change necessitates a fundamental change in the water supply system. Because of the critical societal contribution of drinking water to both living and working, Hannema is continuously working the sensitive topics of its supply and demand with multiple stakeholders. In such a situation, how do you simultaneously innovate to also fundamentally change our water system? And how do you switch between your circle of influence and your circle of involvement? On the 14th of June, CEO Jelle Hannema of Vitens invites us to join a conversation on the rapid change and challenges which come with drinking water supply system, and how their initiative to assure Every Drop to become a Sustainable one is integrated into the daily activities of the company. Following an introductory presentation by Mr. Hannema there is room for questions and an engaging discussion. It promises to become a fruitful and stimulating evening, questioning how the business world is currently using its resources, and what challenges lay ahead.
