Mr Michiel van Dorst is CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) since May 2016. Before joining LVNL, Van Dorst worked at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for more than two decades. From 2010 to 2016 he represented companywide operations within KLM’s Executive Committee, while being a captain on the Boeing 737 and Boeing 777. Mr. van Dorst holds degrees from the Dutch National Aviation School and the University of Amsterdam.

The world of air traffic control is one of the most complex systems in the world, and it requires equally complex stakeholder management. Air Traffic Control the Netherlands interacts with the European Union, Dutch government, international businesses, airlines, passenger flows and local actors on a daily basis, all with their own demands. The organization also deals with global disruption that need swift answers, while depending on long term investments. Most importantly, the main task of Air Traffic Control NL is to facilitate safe air transport in the Dutch airspace. CEO Michiel van Dorst is leading the company through this maze of stakeholders and regulations, with innovation and strategic insights as leading pointers.
