Marieken Westerink, The Dutch Police
Strategic Advisor Diversity & Inclusion
Marieken has been working for the police in various HR related positions since 2000, with a focus on communication and D&I. Marieken is co-author and creator of D&I programs, such as Power of Difference and Police for Everyone. She is responsible for the development and management of D&I policy at national and police force level. Ethics and privacy issues and tackling migration crime are tasks of great complexity that Marieken is involved in.
Public discontent and citizens who do not feel recognized in the 'white' police line has resulted in the implementation of various diversity and inclusion programs within the largest employer in the Netherlands. In order to promote multicultural craftsmanship, the policy of the Police is aimed at effective, competent and safe teams, with each regional unit determining the necessary investments. However, quotas seem to be leading and stigmatising for certain population groups. How do you integrate an inclusive attitude that goes beyond goals?
Program will follow soon.
