Information
Topic

Rapid grid expansion necessitates unprecedented investments, exemplified by a EUR 160 billion 10-year plan spanning both the Netherlands and Germany. However, as highlighted by Manon van Beek, CEO of TenneT, the vision of TenneT goes beyond the Netherlands. TenneT's vision encompasses not only grid expansion but also sustainability and stakeholder engagement, positioning it as a linchpin in Europe's energy transition landscape. Despite this, equity acquisition presents significant challenges and the involvement of multiple stakeholders adds to the complexity. As TenneT emphasizes, "No transmission, no transition" — underscoring that without effective grid infrastructure, the broader energy transition cannot succeed. With TenneT’s aim to integrate ecological considerations into project design while adhering to the strict timelines, transparency and collaboration with regulatory bodies are a top priority to ensure alignment and address concerns regarding project feasibility and timelines..
